The Village School is an independent day school offering pre-school and multi-aged classes for grades K-6 at their campus on Route 68, three miles south of The Common.  Their school building opened in September of 2018, on the 55-acre parcel formerly known as Camp Caravan.  The Village School's curriculum is based on contact with the natural world, and kindness. Along with its parent organization, the Miller's River Educational Cooperative, The Village School offers many events and opportunities for the public throughout the year. This brand new program is currently limited to students enrolled in Fitchburg, Gardner, and Narragansett Regional High Schools, and at present, offers a choice of carpentry or electrical skills training.  The MVP Academy allows for students in comprehensive (classical) high schools to obtain CVTE (Career, Vocational, Technical Education) training sufficient to allow for summer employment, and immediately employment upon graduation. Transportation is provided by Monty Tech for shop weeks.

Mount Wachusett is Royalston's closest Massachusetts Community College, offering dual-enrollment for publicly, private, and home-schooled high school students; part-time and full-time students; adult basic education; and both for-credit and non-credit continuing education.  Non-credit offerings include programs for children, as well as vacation and summer camp opportunities.

The NQ Patch and Family Center both provide support to families in a variety of ways:
  • Assistance with SNAP benefits, fuel assistance, and assistance with housing
  • Family support, advocacy, and assistance for families involved with Department of Children and Families
  • Support/play groups for young children, 'tweens, teens, and grandparents

Head Start is a Federal pre-school program for children in low-income families, administered by the Montachusett Opportunity Council's Child Care and Head Start Services. This program fosters self-esteem and social competence in pre-school children, and supports and encourages parents in their roles as their child(ren)'s primary caregivers.  Other services include free medical and dental care, healthy meals and snacks, and supervised play in safe indoor and outdoor locations.

HOPE offers an after school program for children in grades K-7, and Royalston students are welcome; transportation must be provided to and from Royalston.  HOPE also offers programs to assist women in escaping domestic violence, transitioning from welfare to work, improving their economic condition, or overcoming unexpected personal losses or family trauma.  Their "Job Readiness & Training Program" is eight weeks (175 hours) and provides comprehensive, individualized computer and job skills training, with a year of follow-up and wrap-around support.

A no-cost program to help those who have not yet completed high school improve the quality of their lives through education and career, vocational, and technical training. The mission is to teach eligible young people the skills they need to become employable and independent, and place them in meaningful jobs, or in line for further education.  Participants may be eligible for assistance with housing, basic medical care, nutritious meals, books & supplies, training clothing, child care, as well as a living allowance and supportive community.

Literacy Volunteers of Orange/Athol promote the necessary literacy skills that empower adults to realize their educational, vocational, and personal goals.  Since it began in 1975, LVOA has provided free, confidential, and individualized tutoring in basic literacy and English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) to adults in the North Quabbin communities, using professionally trained and supported volunteer tutors.  All services are free and confidential.
