Burn Permits

Burning Season runs from January 15th through May 1st.

* Burning brush, in the Town of Royalston, without a permit is illegal.  If caught, you may be subject to fines.

  You must complete both step 1 and step 2 to obtain a permit to burn brush in the Town of Royalston.  Plan ahead.  It may take a day or two for your application to be approved.

Below are some tips to assist you.

Step 1 - Payment; there is a one-time, $10 fee to obtain a burning permit.  Clicking on the link provided in Step 1 will bring you to the Unipay website where you will make your payment.  Make sure to copy the payment confirmation number, you will need it to complete the application.   Once you have received your confirmation number go back to the previous page to complete the application portion of the process,  step 2.

Step 2 - Permit application;  Enter all requested information, including your payment confirmation number, and submit.  Remember, your application may take a couple of days to be approved.

Step 3 - Once your application is approved, you will receive a permit to burn via the email address you provided.  Be sure to check your Junk or Spam folder if you do not see it.  This permit gives instructions on how to activate your permit for each burn event that you engage in.  Save this for your records.  

Step 4 - Burning Brush -  Once you have your permit on hand and you are ready to burn brush, you must activate your permit by following the instructions.  When you call in, a recording will tell you whether or not you are able to burn on that day.
