With the separation of church and state the first building to serve as a Town Hall was built in 1840 and located near the current Royalston Congregational Church Parsonage.  On April 23, 1866 the town voted to build a new Town Hall and the current Town Hall was built.  The building was first used on December 17, 1867.  This building continues to serve as the “seat of government” for the town.

The only work completed on this building under the direction of the current Building Committee has been the replacement of all lights with low-energy LED equivalents.  Following a number of other inputs the town located funding and installed an elevator on the rear of the building making this building accessible to those with mobility challenges.

There are two projects being considered but these will require research and funding.  The include:

  • Weatherization
  • Adding emergency electrical backup to allow for the use of this building during extended power outages
