The meeting convened at 7:30 p.m. at town hall.

Minutes: The minutes of July 9, 2009 were accepted as amended. (Note: The committee did not meet in August because of a lack of quorum.)

Internal matters:
Because they so seldom attend meetings, Aaron will ask committee members Tom Musco and Glenn Freden to resign. Paul Montero will write to the Selectboard, expressing his interest in being appointed to the committee.

Open Space and Recreation Plan Update:
(1) The committee has received letters of support for the updated Open Space and Recreation Plan from the Royalston Selectboard, Planning Board, and Conservation Commission, and from the Montachusetts Regional Planning Commission and the North Quabbin Landscape Partnership. These letters and the plant will be sent to the state Department of Conservation and Recreation, which may make recommendations to the Committee. Once the state finally approves the plan, it will be bound and publicized.

(2) Aaron will send the committee copies of the Action Plan portion of the complete plan, and the committee at its next meeting will decide on its next steps.

Town trees:
Kim reported that the Planning Board will be developing a policy regarding the protection of specimen trees, the removal of hazardous ones, and the planting of replacement trees. This initiative is in keeping with the 2009 Royalston Reconnaissance Report and presents a possible project for the Community Preservation Fund.
