The
meeting convened at 7:30 p.m. at town hall.

DCR
Recreational Trail Grants Program:
The request for proposals for the trails grant was passed on to Tom Kellner
(for South Royalston), Keith Newton (for DPW and snowmobile association) and
Selectboard for
additional attention. In addition, Helen Divol e-mailed the information to
other possible stakeholders, but received no response. The committee noted
that because the deadline
for submissions is October 1, 2008, it is unlikely that anyone will pursue
it this year.
The committee will consider the possibility again in spring 2009.
Community
Preservation Act (CPA):
1) Kim will provide information about the CPA to the Ladies Benevolent Society
on
September 24, and Jack will meet with the fire department on some Monday.
The remaining small group meetings, however, have not yet been scheduled.
Chris will talk with Tom Kellner about the possibility of a meeting with the
South Royalston
Improvement Society.
2) The
committee will probably use its October regular meeting as a public hearing
on the CPA and perhaps schedule a second public hearing, one in the Center,
one in South Royalston.
3) Aaron
announced that the Mount Grace Land Conservation Trust has hired a 12-hour
per week intern who will be available to help Royalston, Northfield and Shutesbury
in their
CPA campaigns.
