Meeting Date: March 13, 2008
Members Present:
Aaron Ellison, Jack Morse, Patti Carrier, Christine Beckert Long
Chair: Aaron Ellison
Clerk: Christine Beckert Long
Others present: Peter Kraniak of the Historic District Commission

The meeting convened at 7:30 p.m. at town hall.

Heritage Landscape Inventory: Royalston won a grant to conduct a Heritage Landscape Inventory through consultants hired by the state, who will host a meeting on April 3, 2008, at 7:30 at town hall. The purpose of the meeting is to identify features important to the community because of their relationship with people. After the meeting the team will conduct a site visit and issue a report. The information can be used as data for further grants and Community Preservation Act decisions. Aaron will be the point person for the town.

Peter Kraniak of the Historic District Commission identified some people who might be helpful during this process, and committee members agreed to make calls to invite them to the meeting.

Community Preservation Act: An article asking residents to accept the Community Preservation Act (CPA) and to create a CPA Committee are on the warrant for the Royalston Annual Town Meeting. The committee agreed that we will not issue a brochure before ATM, but will do so before the national election next fall, probably with digitizing town records and creating a South Royalston riverside park as "poster children."

Open Spaces: Aaron reported that a parcel near the center which the committee had focused on last year is for sale.

The meeting adjourned at 8:50 p.m.
