The
meeting convened at 7:30 p.m. at town hall.
Internal matters:
(1) The committee voted unanimously to approve Aaron’s being reimbursed $85.70 for the printing of the new Open Space & Recreation Plan. (2) The committee agreed to meet every other month for the next few months: in May, July and September.
Open Spaces:
The committee heard a presentation by Keith Ross of LandVest of a plan to save a parcel near the center of town by crafting a partnership with the town, Mount Grace Land Conservation Trust and The Trustees of Reservations and using the state Land Grant program. Ross will first talk informally with the Select Board, but hopes to make application to the state by the fall.
National Scenic Trail:
Paul will be working with a friend to survey the trail as it crosses through Royalston. He will also schedule a field trip for the committee in May to hike the portion heading west from Route 32.
Old roads:
Paul presented the Committee with his work on roads. Going further will require access to old records, but that will likely require the services of an archivist to evaluate their condition and make recommendations about preserving them. Jack reported that the Selectboard is discussing the problem with several boards.
