The meeting convened at 7:30 p.m. at town hall.
Minutes:
The committee unanimously approved the minutes of June 14, 2007.
Regarding the land in South Royalston discussed on June 14, Tom Kellner has
not been able to reach the landowners to get a sense if they are willing to
talk about the sale of their land.
With the application period for the self-help grant quickly coming to a close
(July 30), the committee elected to keep this idea on the table and consider
other opportunities if they present themselves.
A letter was received from two landowners in Royalston who expressed a desire
to conserve approximately 40 acres of their land. Aaron agreed to contact
any and all interested parties in an effort to understand the scope of the
project. He will report back at the next meeting regarding any outcomes.
The committee discussed the proposed zoning amendments and how they might fit into the context of the Open Space plan. Kim MacPhee reported that the task force is focusing on public outreach. The committee expressed a willingness to support the task force with outreach efforts and discuss proposed zoning revisions that relate to the Open Space plan. The committee supports key provisions of the proposed revisions to the zoning by-laws: flexible development, open space residential development, and the scenic roads by-law.
The meeting adjourned at 8:55 p.m.
