The meeting convened at 7:30 p.m. at town hall.
Minutes:
The committee unanimously approved the minutes of December 14, 2006.
Committee
Matters:
(1) The committee agreed to request a budget of $250 for FY08.
(2) Aaron asked the committee to reread the Royalston Open Space and Recreation Plan 2004-2009 in preparation for the February meeting. Members should concentrate particularly on the action plan: What have we accomplished? What should we do next?
(1) Aaron updated the committee on progress regarding the parcel south of
the Town Common. The Trustees of Reservations are willing to buy the back
±50 acres of land, which abuts one of their properties. If the owners are
open to this sale and to the concept of protecting the rest of their land,
the next step will be to conduct an actual appraisal. The approximately $4,000
cost could be covered by a grant.
(2) Regarding the area near Tony Road, the committee noted the presence of two "For Sale" signs. Aaron will ask Elizabeth Farnsworth to get additional information on these and on the parcels in tax title.
(3) Regarding a 17-acre parcel on Butterworth Road, which the owner is seeking to divide into three lots, the committee agreed that Aaron will send a letter urging the Planning Board to seek town counsel opinion.
(4) Aaron updated the committee on issues associated with the Tully Lake subdivision on the Athol-Royalston town line.
